It is of my personal perception of the weather and diving conditions over the last week and it is certainly not a prediction! Weather Report # 116. Week: 05 - 12 August 2007

Weather

Daytime highs: 30°C / 33°C (86°F / 92°F)

Minimum temperature: 25°C / 28°C (77°F / 83°F)

It was sunny and dry all week, except for Monday. We had a shower very early in the morning on Monday and after that it kept drizzling on and off until later in the afternoon when the sun came out. It was the only day of the week that the temperature did not go above 30°C....

Diving Conditions

Ocean: Calm, with a bit of surge here and there. The port was closed on Monday, although the ocean looked calm.

Temperature: Around 30°C/31°C (86°F/88°F).

Visibility: Around 10m (30ft), down from the previous weeks..

Hurricane Season

There was no tropical cyclone activity in our area this week.

Thursday Tropical Depression Flossie formed 4,000 km West of here. It became a hurricane on Friday and is currently (Monday) a catagory 4 hurricane several 100 miles Southeast of Hawaii.

Hurricane Flossie is only the second hurricane so far this season and the first major hurricane, well below average....
