Hurricane Divers News
Since this is the first newsletter on the web I will briefly describe what has happened with our Dive Center after the "Family Opening" on the 30th of September 1999. From now on you will find a monthly newsletter on this page and suggestions, comments and pictures are always welcome!
.
October 1999:
We received our recognition as an official PADI Resort Center! Our membership nr. is R-20093.
We sold our first set of diving equipment.
We launched our packages with accommodation.
November 1999:
We did our first PADI Open Water Diver Course with Peter, Louise and Gaby, all from Holland (see photo above).
We had the official opening and a lot of people came by with a lot of positive reactions.
We did our first Advanced, Specialty and Rescue and MFA courses and certified our first PADI Master Scuba Diver, Richard from Holland (again!).
December 1999:
Natanael got certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor and Medic First Aid Instructor.
We launched our "full day excursion" idea and did several excursions which turned out to be very satisfactory.
We participated in a beach clean-up of the 9 Bays of Huatulco with our Dive Club "Los Amigos". In total more then 200 local people joined us.
January 2000:
Roberto went to Las Vegas to visit the DEMA Show, one of the biggest dive shows in the world, where he attended several PADI and DAN Seminars. He came back with some very interesting contacts.
We had a group of 32 students from the UMAR, a local university, doing PADI Scuba Diver Courses and Advanced Open Water Diver Courses with us. This was a nice test for our organizing and planning skills and with help from Ziggy, a Canadian Instructor, it all worked out very well.
Marlon joined our team as a PADI Divemaster trainee.
.
February 2000:
We finally received all our furniture! The Dive Center is now pretty much established as we had it in mind when we started, believe me, it was not easy!
We are now a DAN Sponsor and we applied for recognition as a DAN Partner in Dive Safety.
We became a member of the local association of "alternative tourism" (eco-adventure).
We launched our packages with diving and rafting and the overnight excursion to Puerto Angel.
March 2000:
We have our website out on the internet. This is the first step of a worldwide promotion plan.
