PADI Rescue Diver Course Details

Course Duration - 3 to 4 Days

  • Watch the Rescue Diver Course Video

  • Read the Rescue Diver Manual and answer the Knowledge Reviews

Knowledge Development                                                                            3 - 4 hrs.

  • Review the Knowledge Reviews with your Instructor

  • Attend the Knowledge Development Presentations (if applicable)

  • Complete the Rescue Diver Exam

Confined Water or Pool Training

  • Optional

Open Water Training                                                                                10 - 15 hrs.

  • Participate in the 11 Open Water Training Sessions

  • Conduct the 2 Rescue Diver Training Scenarios

Example Schedule

Without preparation and over 3 days. When you book with enough time in advance, we can get you the materials to prepare for the course. We are flexible and will adjust a schedule when appropriate. We will spend all the time with you, that is needed to complete a course.

  • First Day

  • 09:30 - 10:30 ---- watch video

  • 10:30 - 14:00 ---- open water training

  • In your own time - read manual and answer knowledge reviews

  • Second Day

  • 09:30 - 10:30 ---- watch video

  • 10:30 - 14:00 ---- open water training

  • 16.00 - 18.00 ---- review knowledge reviews

  • In your own time - read manual and answer knowledge reviews

  • Third Day

  • 09:30 - 11:00 ---- review knowledge reviews

  • 11.00 - 14.00 ---- open water training and rescue scenarios

  • 14.00 - 15.00 ---- rescue diver exam

Course Prerequisites

To enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver Course, an individual must:

  • Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have an equivalent rating. "Equivalency" is defined as proof of certification beyond entry level (at least two certifications total), and proof of 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep diving and underwater navigation.

  • Be 12 years of age or older

Note: to be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, the student diver must have successfully completed a sanctioned course in CPR within the past 24 months. The PADI Emergency First Response Course is highly recommended and can be used to meet this requirement.

Note: a person under 15 years of age will be certified as a Junior Rescue Diver.
