PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course Details:

Course Duration - 5 to 14 Days

Preparation / Self Study                                                                                       

• Read Instructor Candidate Workbook

• Review "Instructor Development Standards and Procedures" and "Curriculum" sections of PADI Course Director Manual

• Prepare Knowledge Development Teaching Presentation

• Prepare Confined Water Teaching Presentation

Preassesment                                                                                              6 - 8 hrs.

• Complete Instructor Dive Theory Exam

• Complete Assistant Instructor Standards Exam

• Complete PADI Skill Evaluation

• Present Knowledge Development Teaching Presentation

• Present Confined Water Teaching Presentation

Knowledge Development                                                                            6 - 8 hrs.

• Attend 4 Knowledge Development Presentations by Course Director: Course Orientation, ID Standards and Procedures, Conduct PADI AI Course and Evaluation and Counseling

Practical Application                                                                               4 - 12 Days

• Evaluate at least 3 Knowledge Development Teaching Presentations by Instructor Candidates

• Evaluate at least 3 Confined Water  Teaching Presentations by Instructor Candidates

• Evaluate at least 3 Open Water Teaching Presentations by Instructor Candidates

and

• Audit the complete IDC by observing all 20 required IDC Curriculum Presentations. This means all presentations, by Staff and Candidates

or

• Present all the Presentations of the Assistant Instructor Course Curriculum while being evaluated by the Course Director

Example Schedule

With preparation and over 12 days, including auditing a complete IDC. When you book with enough time in advance, we can get you the materials to prepare for the course. We are flexible and will adjust a schedule when appropriate. We will spend all the time with you, that is needed to complete a course.

• First Day

• 09:30 - 13:00 ---- presentations by Course Director

• 14:00 - 18:00 ---- skill circuit evaluation and briefing on IDC

• In your own time - study and prepare presentations

• Second Day

• 09:30 - 14:00 ---- standards and dive theory exam

• 15:00 - 18.00 ---- candidate presentations

• Third Day to Twelfth Day

• 09:30 - 18:00 ---- audit IDC and evaluation training

• In your own time - assist IDC candidates

Course Prerequisites

To enroll in a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, an individual must:

• Be a renewed, Teaching status PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

• Agree to conduct all PADI certification courses and experience programs using methods consistent with PADI Standards and philosophy as outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual

• Agree to use the PADI System and components in its entirety

Note: To be certified as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, an individual must:

• Satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements

• Submit to the appropriate PADI Office a completed IDC Staff Instructor Application signed by the PADI Course Director who conducted the course, along with  a photo and application fee. Upon approval of the application, PADI will issue a PADI IDC Staff Instructor card.
