DAN HMLI Instructor Qualification Course Details

Preparation / Self Study                                                                                       

  • Complete Core Module Online on DAN Website

  • Read DAN Instructor Manual 

Knowledge Development                                                                           3 - 4 hrs.

  • Attend 8 Knowledge Development Presentations of the Core Module*

  • Complete Core Module Standards and Procedures Exam*

  • Attend Knowledge Development Presentation of the First Aid for Hazardous Marine Injuries Course Module

  • Complete First Aid for Hazardous Marine Injuries Course Module Exam

* Note: You only need to complete the Core Module the first time you become a DAN Instructor. After that you can complete any of the 5 different Course Modules to become a Instructor for those specific DAN Courses.

Skills Development                                                                                     2 - 3 hrs.

  • Complete the 8 Practical Excercises

  • Complete Teaching Excercise

Example Schedule

Without preparation and over 1 day. When you book with enough time in advance, we can get you the materials to prepare for the course. You can also go over the core module online in DANīs Website. We are flexible and will adjust a schedule when appropriate. We will spend all the time with you, that is needed to complete a course.

  • 09:30 - 13:00 ---- knowledge development and exam(s)

  • 14:00 - 18:00 ---- skills development

Course Prerequisites

To enroll in the DAN Instructor Qualification Course, the Instructor Candidate must:

  • Be a certified and active Scuba Diving Educator

  • Be current in every DAN Provider Course for each specific Module the Candidate plans to take

  • Have succesfully completed training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within the last 24 months

  • Have succesfully completed Medic First Aid Training within the last 24 months

  • Be a current DAN Member

Note: To be certified as a DAN Instructor, the candidate must:

  • Have succesfully completed the DAN Instructor Qualification Course

  • Submit to DAN a completed application signed by the Instructor Trainer who conducted the training with copies of the required certifications and documentation and the application processing fee
