Activities - on Land

Trekking

There are various beautifull tracks in and around Huatulco for trekking. Some of them are in the National Park that covers quiet a big area. You can simply go up in the mountains as well for a nice hike. There are several companies in Huatulco that offer guided tours in the area.

Mountain Biking

Various bike tours are offered, from an easy tour in the area of the bays of Huatulco to more demanding tours in the mountains and the National Park. You can also rent a bike and discover the Huatulco area yourself, there are some breathtaking views worth the effort!

Horseback Riding

As with biking and hiking, you can enjoy horseback riding in Huatulco either along the extensive coastline or up into the mountains. There are a few "ranchos" in the area that do guided tours. Don´t forget to bring a pair of long trousers!

Climbing and Rappel

There´s some interesting and pretty challenging rock climbing and rappel to do in Huatulco. On the right you see a rockface on the coast called "Punta Celeste", one of the three popular sites for these activities. The others are at "Piedra de Moros" and in the area of the beautiful "Copalitilla Waterfalls", up in the mountains. There are a few service providers offering trips to those sites.

Canyoning

For those of you who are looking for a real dose of adrinaline, the area of the waterfalls is also a very nice area for the relatively new adventure activity "canyoning". Its a combination of rock climbing, rappel, trekking through the jungle, getting your feet wet and is not for the "faint hearted"!

Bird Watching

If you´re not necessarely looking for adrinaline rushes but enjoy observing nature´s flora and fauna, you can go on a guided bird watching tour. There are 227 bird species to be found in the Huatulco area, amongst others: eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, pelicans, fregat birds, seagulls, herons and, for example, over twenty species of humming birds. Huatulco has an exhurbant vegetation and there´s a wide variety of reptiles and smaller mammals you may encounter in the area.

Golf & Tennis

In Huatulco you have a champion class, 18 hole, par 72 golf course measuring 6,851 yards, at your disposal. The grass used for the greens, fairways and the rough is Bermuda. At the golf course there are several tennis courts available. In some hotels it´s also possible to play tennis.
