Our Dive Center & Staff

Safety

Do you want to dive relaxed? Knowing  that everything is taken care of to  prevent  incidents? Knowing that in the  unlikely event of an incident that we are ready to deal with it professionally? I certainly do! That is why we are very serious about dive safety in our dive center. Dive Safety is our first priority and we always follow the internationally recognized safety rules and regulations as well as the PADI and DAN standards and recommendations such as; having oxygen available at all times; keeping our staff current in Medic First Aid, oxygen providing, dive rescue; keeping our equipment in good working order and complete; making a safety stop on every dive; giving a thorough dive briefing, etc. For more info on those safety standards, go to the page on Dive Safety.

DAN Partner in Dive Safety

In 2000 we were the first dive center in Mexico to receive the recognition as a "DAN Partner in Dive Safety" (DAN is the Diver Alert Network). So far there are only a couple of dive centers in Mexico with this important recognition and less than 20 in the world! For more info go to the section about DAN PDS.

SECTUR

Every year we get inspected by SECTUR, the Mexican Secretary of Tourism and so far we are one of the few dive centers in the country that actually comply with the norms and rules set forth by the Mexican Government in the Federal Law of the country.

Safe Diving

Since dive safety is an important issue for us, we try to improve the (dive) safety in general in Huatulco by regularly offering courses and programs to local divers, snorkel guides, fishermen and other people involved in various watersports, either for free or at special rates. We also set the example for, and work together with, other dive centers in the area in an effort to improve the safety aspects of their services. For you as a diver, we offer various PADI & DAN Courses to help you improve your dive safety such as: Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response, Oxygen Provider and Specialty Courses like: Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, Deep Diver, etc. We offer various "Safe Diver" packages with courses suited to your level of experience and certification, to help you become a safe diver. For more info on those packages go to section about Course Packages.

In the unlikely event anything would ever happen, there is a hyperbaric chamber in Huatulco, in the Navy Hospital, only a few minutes from our dive center!

For more info on dive safety, go to the page about Dive Safety.

Environment

As divers we are the ambassadors of the sea and it is our job to make everybody aware of the beauty of the underwater world and the need to preserve it. That is why we, as a dive center, put a lot of effort into educating divers and non-divers alike, as to how they can protect the aquatic environment.

Our dive center and staff also do our part, i.e. we never anchor in the corals, we do not touch or harass marine life, we do not take anything out of the ocean except garbage (and photos) and encourage all our students and divers to behave in the same way.

We organize various projects during the year, such as beach clean-ups and we do Specialty Courses like Underwater Naturalist, Project Aware, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Coral Reef Protection to increase awareness  amongst the local divers and non-divers. We offer these courses as well in special "Eco Diver" course packages. For more information on those packages go to the section Course Packages.
